A Resource for Authors & Entrepreneurs
The next step is to build your website/blog.
Think about the FOCUS of your business. Are you going to concentrate on one niche? Which one? What are you most interested in and passionate about? Remember, you are building a BUSINESS.
Your front page should introduce that business and tell your visitors WHY they should spend time with you. You will be able to add additonal pages to your blog for information purposes as well.
What is a Blog?
A blog, originally known as “weblog” is a continuous string of posts that you make about whatever you want to talk about. It can be reviews, information about your particular niche or business or anything else related to your reason for having a website.
WordPress Blogs
If you choose paid hosting and a WordPress blog, you will be able to have a HOME page and BLOG pages. The Home page will carry the basic information and the blog pages will give ongoing information and motivation for folks to support your business.
You do get free WordPress blogs and free hosting from www.wordpress.com, but you can’t use them to sell anything from your site. If you are not going to conduct ecommerce (using buy buttons linked to a payment processor) and just using your site to send people to products you are recommending as an Affiliate (for commission), then this is a good option.
Google is another Best Friend. Ask Google how to build a WordPress blog and soon you will be on your way.
Google (Blogger) Blogs
Great choice for a free blog and hosting and so easy to use and setup. You can do whatever you like with a Google blog, though it lacks the professional look of a WordPress blog. The plus is that it belongs to Google so they advertise anything you do there! Again, “ask Google” how to setup a Blogger blog.
Watch, learn and do!
We’ll slow down the pace now and give you time to build your blog. In a few day’s time we will discuss how to go about moving files from your computer to your blog, e.g. graphics, photographs, etc. As they say, “A picture is worth a thousand words!”
Until then….
